Mediterranean & Roman Libya

Tripoli - Leptis Magna - Sabratha - Benghazi - Tolmeitha - Gasr Libya - Cyrene - Apollonia



Day 1: Arrival to Tripoli.

After arrival to Tripoli International airport, transfer to the hotel in the city center, after a short break we will take you on a city tour of Tripoli “Oea”: the Medina, souk, Islamic architecture, and the famous triumphal arch of Marcus Aurelius. Then dinner in a city select restaurant.

Day 2: Sabratha, Benghazi.


After breakfast, a visit to the Libyan national museum rich with the traces of the different civilizations that made the history of Libya, then the undescribable Sabratha with its wonderful theater and ruins and museum. Lunch will take place at a restaurant on the way back to Tripoli, from where in the afternoon we will fly to Benghazi, have dinner and spend the night at the hotel.

Day 3: Tolmeitha, Gasr Libya.


Visit most of the historic and archeological attractions of this region, counting Tolmeitha “Ptolemais” with its Roman treasures and museum; finally Gasr-Libya where lays a collection of beautiful mosaics from the 6th century. Lunch will be on the Ptolemais, dinner at the hotel in Apollonia.

Day 4: Apollonia, Cyrene, Tripoli.

Breakfast and then start discovering Sussa “Apollonia” (once port north of Cyrene) with its large theater and byzantine churches. then head to Shahat “Cyrene”: the harmony of the Greek and roman ruins, worth seeing: the villa of the rich priest of Apollon Jason Magnus, the Agora, the Sanctuary of Apollon, temple of Apollon and Artemis and the gigantic Temple of Zeus (5th Century B.C.), Then drive back to Benghazi for a flight to Tripoli where you will spend the night.

Day 5: Leptis Magna.

Early breakfast and then drive to Leptis Magna which the Emperor Septimus Severus has made of it Rome of Africa (between 2nd and 3rd century), you will discover the famous triumphal arch of Septimus severus, the large basilica, the public baths, the market place, the port and the magnificent theater. Lunch will be on the route and dinner at the hotel in Tripoli.

Day 6: Tripoli Full Day.

This day you will experience the Libyan traditional life style, have lunch at a farm around Tripoli, with a popular folklore show, you will also visit the Medina and the national museum, and have some time for shopping.

Day 7: Flight Home.

Breakfast and then transfer to Tripoli international airport to have a safe flight back home.

Libyan Short Weekend



Tripoli - Leptis Magna Sabratha’s Magnificent Theatre

Libya’s Roman ruins are among the best in the world, and this journey offers the chance to explore two UNESCO World Heritage Sites over a long weekend. This short break visits the superbly preserved Roman cities of Leptis Magna and Sabratha, made more spectacular by the back drop of the Mediterranean Sea, and the capital’s old medina and magnificent Archeological Museum.

Day 1: Tripoli.

Fly to Tripoli. Transfer to the Hotel for 4 nights. Afternoon: Sightseeing tour of the city (including Marcus Aurelius Arch, Medina and Souk).

Day 2: Janzour / Sabratha.

Morning transfer to Janzour for a visit of the small museum and tombs. Continue to the Roman city of Sabratha which prospered in the 2nd and 3rd centuries as one of the three great cities of Roman Tripolitania, along with Leptis Magna and Oea (ancient Tripoli). Today it is best known for its wonderfully preserved theatre. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.


Day 3: Leptis Magna.

This morning drive to Leptis Magna and explore the vast site, once one of the major trading centers of classical North Africa and regarded as one of the world’s finest and most complete examples of a Roman city. Among the many magnificent monuments are the Baths of Hadrian, the Arch and Forum of Septimus Severus, the Flavian Basilica and the city amphitheater. On the way back a significant Stop at the Charming Villa Sileen .

Day 4: Tripoli .


Morning visit to the Tripoli Archaeological Museum followed by a tour of Tripoli, including The Kramanli House, the Arch of Marcus Aurelius, the Famous Gurgi’s mosque and the fresh narrow streets of the Medina.


Day 5: To Home.

Morning at leisure, Then Coffee Break at the Saraya in front of the Red Castle, Later transfer to the airport and fly Home from Tripoli.
